"The Entry Point" by Psychema

OVERALL SCORE: 4.21 / 5.00

Psychema has put together a very solid debut release with "The Entry Point" - this is an album that will ultimately make my personal regular playlist for years to come. I have thoroughly enjoyed every second of this album. Starting off with a very rare (these days), yet very nostalgic "intro track," Psychema begins to dull your senses and slowly wipe away the outside world with the title track of the album. The track "You" adds to their illustrious build up.

From there, they break you directly into "Solace in Void". This is a track that continues to build you up, while keeping you in a mild state of disarray. Not enough to completely dehabilitate you, but certainly enough to draw you in. Although I've taken to labeling their sound as simply melodic Scandanavian metal, they seem to begin to draw on an almost gothic influence.

Next we break into "Antiparticle" - a track that speaks for itself. How so? Well, it's been on regular rotation on 339metal internet radio, almost since the album's release. I'd say that's quite impressive. Wouldn't you? Next notable mention would have to go to the "one-two punch" of "The Past" and "Losing Grace" These are two instrumental tracks that really help you reach the climax of the disc.

After that, Psychema lets you down gently with one of the best tracks of the album, "Semilucidity" This song tends to remind me of hearing Tiamat tracks back in my days as a young high schooler. A very, very nostalgic experience, to say the least.

All in all, Psychema has put together an excellent album in their debut, "The Entry Point" Rather than sum up what you've already read, I strongly urge you to take a listen it yourself. I have a feeling that you'll enjoy it very much.
